What should I do if I get a contributions bill?

If you have not paid enough contributions in any quarter (3 month period) you may get a letter from contributions. If you get a letter you should go and talk to one of the Advisers in the Contributions Department. They are based in the Social Security building on La Motte Street. The Advisers will be able to explain to you why they have sent you the letter and how they can help. They may be able to excuse you from paying, but they will explain to this how this can effect you if you need to claim benefit, for example if you become sick.  You may find that you are exempt from paying contributions and they can credit you for your contributions.
