Death and Bereavement
Coping with Death
When someone close to you dies, it can be very difficult to
cope. There is often a mix of feelings, which can change as time
moves on, and people deal with death in different ways.
It is not unusual to be sad and confused, hurt and angry, or
even guilty.
It can help, when you are ready, to talk to someone about your
loss. You may find it difficult to talk about your loss at first,
or find that other people are a little awkward when you do.
Allow yourself to grieve, give yourself time to accept what has
happened, and eventually you will be better able to move on.
It really does vary, but for some people the grieving process
can take a long time. But keep hold of your memories, they can
become a real comfort to you.
You may find that talking your feelings through with a close
friend, family member or religious or community leader helps,
whilst other people might find that contacting a specialist
organisation may be the best support for them.
