Information about Annual Leave, Understanding your pay and Minimum rest periods

Your Rights at Work

Annual Leave

Each leave year, an employee is entitled to a minimum period of 2 weeks paid annual leave (or a longer period if specified in employment contract) plus paid leave on Christmas Day, Good Friday and on all Public and Bank Holidays (or if the employee has been required by his employer to work, days off with pay instead of these, as stated in employment contract).

On termination of employment an employee shall be entitled to receive payment for that proportion of the paid holiday not already taken (or any greater sum stated in employment contract).

If the employee has taken more holiday than his/her service in the year allows at the time of termination then the employer is entitled to receive from the employee payment equal to the excess holiday taken (or any sum that is less and stated in a relevant agreement).
