Health & Safety at Work
Health and safety legislation requires persons to take
appropriate action with the aim of preventing accidents and
injuries and occurring to themselves and others.
The Health and Safety Inspectorate (HSI) is responsible for
enforcing the helath and safety at work legislation and also
provides and advisory service for persons with regard to the
practical implications of the legal requirements.
The aim of the Inspectorate is to 'establish and maintain a
working environment in which health, safety and welfare standards
are adequately controlled for anybody who may be affected'.
