Further & Higher Education
In Jersey you can study in a sixth
form at either Beaulieu Convent, De La Salle
College, Hautlieu School, Jersey College
for Girls or Victoria College. Highlands
College also offer a range of courses at different levels in
various areas such as media, business, construction and many
more.
A prospectus form the college or school sixth form will list the
different courses, the qualifications you need and the course
content.

or college directly or pick up one from your careers
teacher. Alternatively visit Careers Jersey at
Social Security.
Many also have open evenings when you can visit and obtain
further information.
Higher education is when you study for
qualifications such as first degrees and higher national diplomas
which are normally undertaken by students aged 18 years and
over. It is the next step up from studying A levels or
vocational qualifications at a school or college. It is also
possible to take some higher education qualifications locally
on a full or part-time basis and also to study by distance
learning.
GOING TO UNIVERSITY
The closing date for applications to universities vary depending
on the type of course that you are taking, and where you want to
go. For example, applications for Oxford, Cambridge, medicine
and veterinary courses need to be received by October
15th.
The general deadline for other courses is January
15th except art and design courses which have a later
deadline.
There is a Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS)
form to fill in online for applications to universities, which are
part of the the UCAS. You would usually apply
through your school or college who have a registered UCAS centre
number. If you are not at school or college you can contact
the Careers Service at Social
Security who can help you with all aspects of your application. All
the University Prospectus' are available at the Jersey Library

your queries.
